Teaching

I have taught undergraduate courses at the Universities of York, Leeds, Cyprus and Nicosia. My teaching has covered a broad range of areas, including philosophy of mind, ethics, epistemology, ancient and early modern philosophy, and philosophy of religion. I am also currently co-supervising doctoral research on experiences of ketamine therapy in individuals with treatment-resistant depression.

Alongside university teaching, I have designed and delivered a range of my own adult tuition philosophy courses, including Introduction to Philosophy, Stoicism, Ancient Greek Philosophy, Current Issues in Philosophy, Nietzsche, Existentialism, Ethics and Philosophy of Religion. Most of these were originally developed for the University of York’s Centre for Lifelong Learning, and I have continued to design and teach courses independently.

I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I have received the University of York Vice-Chancellor’s Teaching Award and was nominated for both GTA of the Year and Teacher of the Year at the University of York Students’ Union Excellence Awards.

Alongside my university teaching, I have worked as a private philosophy tutor through Spires, The Profs and MyTutor, teaching students from A-Level and IB through to undergraduate and postgraduate level. My tutoring has involved one-to-one teaching, discussing philosophical arguments and student work on which I provide detailed feedback, and developing tailored teaching materials and notes. I have consistently maintained a five-star rating across these platforms, with student reviews frequently highlighting clear explanations, constructive feedback, and increased confidence and academic progress.
